Te race to dominate real money mobile poker apps has taken off after PokerStars yesterday launched apps for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android.
The world's biggest poker site released Apps - approved by Apple - which give players the ability to play in free or real money games on PokerStars.com via their remote device.
It came on the same day Bet24.com announced it had rolled out its mobile apps in 17 EU countries, sparking a turf war for mobile poker.
Players on the new PokerStars apps can compete in cash games, sit & go’s or multi-table tournaments and have access to all the same games and player pools as any player using desktop software.
The game formats include Hold’em, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo and it incorporates a unique multi-tabling experience designed specifically for the way people use their mobile and tablet devices.
The app itself can be downloaded direct from Apple's App Store - or via a link on the PokerStars website.
Real money poker on the iPhone has been available since October 2010, when Switch Poker first enabled its iOs compatible site.
Since then Microgaming's Android app and bwin's real-money poker app on the iPhone have both been hugely successful - but in a limited number of countries because of the ongoing legal wrangling about poker regulation.
