Phil Ivey dominates poker to the extent that he is most commonly compared to a great golfer, Tiger Woods.
But it was a legend from another sport - cricketer Shane Warne - who helped the 35-year-old into a commanding position on Day 1c of the Aussie Millions Main Event in Melbourne.
Ivey had struggled throughout much of this third opening day and had dropped to 85,000 chips - nearly 170,000 off the overall lead.
It was then that he found himself in a titanic all-in against the Australian leg spinner, doubling up and leaving Warne all but on the rail.
Ivey finished the day with a hugely impressive 184,000 - the 4th best on Day 1c - and right up there with the overall leaders, aside maybe from Brett Watson, who bagged up a freakishly good 257,400 on Day 1a.
Robert Lam finished top of the Day 1c leaderboard with 198,400 and will be kept company later today by Jason Mercier who survived a testing few hours to emerge with 61,600 after hitting a very timely diamond flush.
The same can't be said of Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem and Erik Seidel, who hit the rail before you could say 'Anyone seen Warney?'.
