Fabio Capello quit tonight as manager of England.
Blah blah blah. Who cares? We're still not going to win the Euros.
What you really want to know is how to make cash out of Capello's departure.
And. I have some good news for you. You can more than quadruple your money - it's easy.
Harry Redknapp, basking in the afterglow his dream day, is going to get the gig.
But there's obviously no value in backing that.
Redknapp, probably working alongside Stuart Pearce, will need to appoint a unity captain for the Euros.
That rules out his nephew big fat Frankie Lampard, Ashley Cole or any other Chelsea player.
Redknapp overlooked Scott Parker at Spurs and even if he did fancy him as England skipper, he knows he'll be accused of club nepotism.
Alas, for both us and the bookies, that leaves one obvious candidate.
Steven Gerrard recently said: "I don't see why we have to look abroad if English managers are good enough and I believe they are.
"I don't think Harry Redknapp gets the credit he deserves for what he's done at Tottenham."
Well played Stevie. Top of the class. You'll get the gig. One last chance to shine on the big stage. But at 5/6, there's no value in that bet either.
But think ahead a few months...
Daniel Levy allows Redknapp to work for the FA as a consultant until the end of the season, when he'll take over at England fully, just in time for the Euros.
That leaves Tottenham, with a healthy compensation package from the FA and in the Champions League, needing a big name boss with top level experience who can fill Harry's enormous shoes.
Maybe someone who will be both available and looking for a big job in English football at the end of the season...and preferably in London, near his home.
Step forward Mr Jose Mourinho.
A man on a mission to return to the Premier League and prove everyone - especially Real Madrid - wrong, again.
With the Man Utd, City and Chelsea jobs unavailable for the forseeable future and Mourinho hungry to return, the Spurs gig is the only one that would realistically interest the Special One. And it's about to become available.
At a juicy 9/2 with Bet365, lump on!
