VICTORINO Torres has won the APPT Macau 2010 after qualifying through a $22 rebuy satellite on Pokerstars.
The 33-year-old - whose dream is to be a farmer - can now look forward to buying a lot of goats after scooping more than $3.2 million HKD ($416,000).
Torres, a lawyer from the little-known American Northern Mariana Islands, quietly worked his way up the leaderboard as other players hit the rail.
Although he entered the final table with the second-shortest chip stack, Torres stole the lead from runner-up Chong Wing Cheong once play became four-handed and never looked back.
He said: "My whole experience here in Macau has been exceptional.
"This tournament was beyond belief. Every player that gets the opportunity should come out here and play."
A trial lawyer by trade, a jubilant Torres said he expects to spend a little more time enjoying his main hobby when he returns home.
"I think I’ll spend a little more time on the farm now that I won. I love farming," he added.
"I find it soothing, it’s relaxing, and it’s beneficial. I love it."
Cheong’s runner-up finish makes him the highest-placing Chinese player in the event’s four-year history. He earned HKD $2,088,000 ($267,600) for his efforts.
