NEIL Channing has won the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Luton and an impressive £64,050.
The 42-year-old, known as 'Bad Beat', beat off competition from 228 rivals to win the £1,000 buy-in event.
Channing, whose form has improved dramatically in recent years, now boasts nearly $3 million in live tournament winnings, although he needed his fair share of luck to land the title.
After his victory he said: "The final table was pretty long.
"For just a second I nearly let myself get tilted.
" I managed to hit a few hands in the end and come through to win my first GUKPT."
The talkative Londoner, who writes regularly for the Hendon Mob website, also wins a free seat to the Grosvenor Champion of Champions tournament to be held in Coventry in December.
Channing's biggest live win since his triumph in the Irish Poker Open in March 2008 came after a relatively brief heads-up battle against Ade Odetoyinbo.
Less than 10 minutes into heads-up play, Channing - who had his rival covered - moved in with A,K. Odetoyinbo called with A,9, the board failed to improve either hand and Channing was crowned champion.
