EVER wondered what a poker tournament in Bulgaria would look like?
No, neither had we. But we're about to find out.
Pokerstars has announced the new Balkan Poker Festival (BPF) will run from September 2-5 in the country.
The €900+€90 buy-in tournament will take place at the Golden Sands Black Sea resort near Varna, on the Black Sea Riviera.
As you'd expect in a town famed for its thermal power plant, the event is tipped to become the biggest live poker festival ever held in the region.
Two hundred players from across Europe are expected to compete for the title of first BPF champion and the prize will include an EPT winner’s package worth €5,300.
Aside from their fondness for crap folk music and anything that looks like, smells like or tastes like yoghurt, the Bulgarians are a decent lot and Varna should be a stunning place to play poker.
There's a huge National Park nearby and the Black Sea coast offers some of the most unspoilt sandy beaches in Eastern Europe.
PokerStars will be running satellites to the inaugural BPF from just a few dollars, with packages including seat, accommodation and expenses.
