WITH half the planet's poker players seemingly crammed into the Rio in Las Vegas for the WSOP Main Event, it might be a good time to get some peace and quiet.
So, with that in mind, why not blow your wad on a plane ticket to Queenstown, New Zealand, for the next leg of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT)?
With four events already played so far in the second season, the tour now heads across the Tasman Sea to the chilly but idyllic Queenstown - near where the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed - for a NZD$2,500 Main Event running 17-25 July.
Ok, granted, there's bigger money to be won in Vegas right now - last season's New Zealand leg winner Daniel Chevalier picked up a modest NZD$87,435 - but you can't go kayaking on Lake Wakatipu, or tour the Edwardian Steam Ship TSS Earnslaw in Nevada, can you?
This year the number of players heading for the SKYCITY casino is likely to hot a new record too, with plenty of chunky side events providing some serious action if things go pear-shaped in the main event.
So, if you fancy getting away from it all - and playing a bit of decent poker at the same time - head to the tour website at: www.anzpt.com ...and we'll see you on the paddle steamer!![]()
