POKERSTARS was left in limbo today as the site's Chief Executive unexpectedly quit.
Gabi Campos, a former 888 executive who only joined the online giant in October 2010, will leave his job in just two weeks.
The world's biggest poker room - which has also lost European Poker Tour Chief Executive John Duthie and Tournament Director Thomas Kremser in the last eight months - must now start a frantic search for his replacement.
In a brief statement, PokerStars said: "Gabi Campos has decided to step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2012, to pursue other opportunities.
“The company thanks Gabi for his hard work and commitment and wishes him the best in all his future endeavours. A search for Gabi’s replacement is under way.”
PokerStars has been fighting to maintain its global market dominance since Black Friday' - April 15 last year - when the US Department of Justice shut the site, along with Full Tilt Poker, to US players.
When Duthie, the founder of PokerStars' hugely successful EPT, quit earlier this month he implied he wanted to work with other companies planning launches in America when the US market eventually reopens for business.
