FULL TILT Poker players in Britain should call the police to report the firm if they feel they have been a victim of crime, regulators said yesterday.
The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) - which revoked Full Tilt's license last year - issued a statement advising UK players to contact their local authorities if they have lost money.
The update, the first from the regulator for several months, made no mention of French company Groupe Bernard Tapie (GBT), which reached agreement with the US Department of Justice and Full Tilt's previous shareholders to acquire the company for $80million in November.
A formal deal is expected soon but no details have yet been released about player compensation packages, even though nearly $150million is currently frozen in Full Tilt player accounts around the world.
The AGCC statement read: "At the request of the police, AGCC will continue to log incoming player complaints: these records will be made available to the police.
"However, following the revocation of the licences, AGCC no longer has authority to intermediate or arbitrate on player issues or disputes with Full Tilt (excepting for players registered under a Swiss address).
"Players may have the following alternative options:-
1. Full Tilt has been requested to provide a specific player contact: this is awaited and will be incorporated here upon receipt.
2. Any player who believes they are a victim of crime, as a result of their dealings with Full Tilt, should in the first instance contact theirown local police in their country of residence and report the matter to them. These reports will then be co-ordinated centrally.
3. It is understood that a number of civil actions have been initiated by players against Full Tilt, some as class actions representing multiple players by UK, US and Canadian lawyers. Details of the firms concerned can be found through internet search."
Full Tilt and PokerStars have been shut to US players since 'Black Friday' - April 15.
Full Tilt has also been down for UK players since June 29, when the Alderney Gambling Control Commission suspended all its licenses.
