POKERJOLT columnist Julian Thew has become the first poker player to win three GUKPT titles.
The Hold'em ace celebrated his birthday by landing the GUKPT Coventry and picked up a cheque for £42,740.
It takes the Sky Poker pro's total live tournament winnings to a whopping $2,600,000.
'Yoyo' had already won the GUKPT titles in Brighton and Plymouth and bested a field of 145 players to land the trophy.
He said: "I'm totally thrilled to have scooped my third GUKPT title. "It sure helped that I ran like Jamie Gold circa 2006 at the final table - I don't think I've ever quite played one like it before!
"I'd also like to thank the whole Sky Poker Team for having faith in me and signing me up to the site earlier this year.
"My next event will be the first leg of the Sky Poker Tour in a fortnight followed by the UKOPS series.'"
The tournament had seemed destined to go to Rick Trigg, who entered the final table as chip leader.
But Thew's experience told and eventually the pair went heads-up - and the Pokerjolt man won it on the very first hand.
Trigg was dealt AK, but ran it into the pocket tens of Thew and - with nothing above a Jack on the board to help Trigg - his game was up.
