The World Series of Poker 2011 schedule was announced last night and the 42nd running of the event at the Rio in Las Vegas is is set to be the biggest yet.
One more bracelet than last year - 58 - will be up for grabs and a brand new $25,000 heads-up no limit championship, right at the start of the series, is sure to attract the richest names on the circuit.
It all kicks off in just four months, on Tuesday, May 31, and will again conclude with the November Nine battling it for the WSOP Main Event title - and the biggest prize in poker - later in the year.
WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel said: "Something for everyone is the best way to describe the 2011 World Series of Poker schedule.
"It’s staggering to think that last year alone the WSOP hosted nine of the 17 largest tournaments in poker history.
"We had 44 events produce more than a $1 million prize pool, so we can’t wait to get at it again and offer players at all levels the best poker action on the planet."
The main run of the WSOP will be between May 31 - July 19. Last year 73,000 players from nearly 120 countries fought it out for bracelets and a staggering $187 million prize pool across the most popular poker variations.
The 2011 WSOP Main Event will begin on Thursday, July 7 and will reach its final table on Tuesday, July 19, at which time play will be halted until November.
ESPN will broadcast the November Nine when play resumes on November 5, building up to a live primetime climax on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.
Last year Jonathan Duhamel won the big one - and pocketed a staggering $8.9 million.
The WSOP has again struck deals with various hotel chains to try and accommodate players at reduced rates during the championship.
Players will pay as little as $69 for a room at the Rio itself, while Imperial Palace is offering rates as low as $35, and Bally’s, Flamingo, Harrah’s, Paris and Caesars Palace for between $45-$110 a night.
