Vanessa Selbst has revealed that she is a keen amateur comedian.
The 26-year-old claimed that improvisation is her speciality and that being 'incredibly witty' forms part of her strategy on the poker table.
When asked to tell a joke, the New Yorker, who has won nearly $2m in her short career, replied: "I can't right now. It's not like that.
"It's more situational comedy. Say if you do something at a table, I'd bust you in a funny way."
Selbst, who is openly gay, made the comments in an interview with the PokerStars Blog in which she also talked about her sexuality.
The Brooklyn-born ace revealed that she met her "dream gal" - an English teacher from upstate New York - on a dating website nearly a year ago.
She added: "It's 2010. Nobody cares. I get s*!# about other things."
Selbst has put a promising law career on hold while she attempts to make her fortune from poker.
She has already won one World Series of Poker bracelet - at the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event in 2008, earning her $227,933.
But unlike most bracelet winners, she's not impressed by the bling.
"It's funny," she says.
"Definitely an ugly thing. I lost it for a while."
Then without missing a beat she adds: "I'd have to gain three hundred pounds for it to fit my wrist."
