TOM Dwan has said he only plays poker to make money.
The 24-year-old, who has won and lost between $8 and $10 million online, said that top pros who claim they play because they love the game are 'bluffing'.
And he insisted that if he couldn't make cash, he wouldn't bother with poker at all.
The comments came at the PartyPoker World Open 6 in London, when Dwan - who plays under the screename 'durrrr' - was asked if he was pleased that fellow pros rate now him as one of the best players in the world.
He replied: "No, that's not why I play poker. I play poker to make money."
He continued: "The only people that I play to beat for the competition are my friends, in home games.
But anytime I'm playing real stakes I don't care about the competition, just the money."
As if to emphasise the point, he then said he was the same person before his success, just not as rich.
He added: "I was the same guy I just had less money.
"When I first got into poker my family were a little worried but they changed that mindset pretty quickly and have been supportive the whole way."
Dwan, who is now a Full Tilt pro, also said he found working for the site easy.
"The main difference for me now is that I don't play on the other sites," he said. "But that's fine, as there's a tonne of games of Full Tilt.
"There are a very small amount of events they want me to go to, but it's not too many."
The New Jersey-born ace boasts seven WSOP cashes but is still looking for his first major bracelet.
As well as his online winnings he has pocketed nearly $1.5million from live tournaments.
