A man is to play poker 3,500ft up a mountain to raise money for a cancer charity.
Ben Ford, 31, will hike to the top of Snowdon with colleagues in a bid to raise £10,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
If they succeed, it will set a new world record for the highest poker tournament ever held.
The Grosvenor Casino worker, from Cardiff, believes he'll make it to the top of the mountain, one of Britain's tallest, despite being woefully unfit.
He said: "Despite not having exercised properly in 10 years, I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead.
"We came up with the idea of playing a ‘high-stakes’ poker tournament during one of our regional meetings but I didn’t think we’d actually go ahead and do it.
"I am confident that, despite a few sore muscles, we will pull out all the stops to raise as much money as we can for this worthy cause."
He added: "The work that Marie Curie nurses do, caring for people when they need it most, is really fantastic and it’s great to know that every £20 we raise from the challenge will pay for an hour of nursing care in a patient’s home.”
