The EPT Deauville Main Event - the first major European live poker tournament of 2011 - gets underway today.
The Normandy championship, which has a €5,300 buy-in, is set for its biggest ever year with nearly 800 players expected to generate a whopping €4million prize pool.
This year the EPT Deauville will be held at the Casino Barriere and Britain's Jake Cody, aka 'neverbluff67' will be hoping to emulate last year's incredible triumph, when he won the title for a first prize of €847,000 after a miracle comeback.
Former EPT champions Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier finished in 9th place and Mike McDonald finished in third place. Former WSOP main event champion Peter Eastgate, who has since retired from the game, finished in eighth place.
This year players will start with 30,000 in chips and levels will last for 60 minutes on the first day of play and 75 minutes on the following days. Blinds start at 50-100.
