Tom Dwan has taken a great interest in the Egypt crisis since events started unfolding in Cairo, as we reported last week.
But now durrrr, 24, has taken his political credentials to another level by clashing with former Presidential candidate Ron Paul on Twitter.
The 24-year-old, who boasts a $5m fortune, has thoughtfully commented on the protests in Tahrir Square since 50,000 protesters first occupied the area, protesting against Hosni Mubarak's tyrannical rule, in late January.
But the Full Tilt pro's interest almost led to a diplomatic incident on Friday, when he publicly challenged the Texas Congressman to justify his isolationist stance.
Having told his 30,000 followers to 'turn on their TVs' to watch President Obama's speech on the Egypt crisis, Dwan then retweeted a message from 'SultanAlQassemi'.
"I couldn't tweet it all,"he said. "But that was one amazing speech by Obama. I highly recommend you read/watch it in its entirety."
He then agreed with '@Snomad_09' that what has happened in Egypt and Tunisia "definitely will have an impact on the entire world".
But it didn't stop there.
Durrrr then left the room, presumably to make a cup of coffee - or another million dollars - only to be outraged by what he heard over his shoulder.
"Wow," he said. "Left on CNN after obama, wtf @repronpaul!?
"Was in other room and thought he was some random idiot talking head. Agree w/ him on so many domestic economic things, but now I remember why I never watch political stuff- tilts me wayy too much."
Dwan was then inundated with messages from fans who wanted to know why he was attacking the usually libertarian Republican Congressman who has said the US, which has given Egypt close to $70 billion in aid in the last 30 years, should basically butt out of the region.
Cue another Dwan Tweet: "To clarify- I generally agree w/ a lot of the stuff @repronpaul says especially economically, that said he was way off just now.#Backtopoker"
Mr Dwan sir, you are a fine poker player but - as it turns out - an even finer diplomat.
We salute you.![]()
